We, Save the Nile are campaigning to make sure Juba is clean and the Nile is free from pollution, what makes our work unique is that we want the community to take the responsibility. It shouldn't be the work of the government alone to keep our environment clean. Juba City Council can't go and clean your sections of the streets. So you should start taking action instead of waiting for the government.
For many years, we've seen "Keep Juba Clean" campaigns but none of these seems to have worked out, because the community is not involved in taking action. We're still seeing waste on the roadsides, streets, and drainage more than ever before. Even "Keep Juba Clean" signpost area is still littered with bottles. Try moving around Munuki Bridge today and see the plastic bottles under the bridge scattered throughout there.
All these is washed to the Nile when it rains, and we later faced the dangers firsthand because we get drinking water from the Nile. My message is simple: start cleaning from where you live, where you walk, and where you work. That way, our Juba will be clean and healthy.
